- 1 tbsp. Ground Cinnamon
- ½ tsp. Fine Sea Salt
- ½ cup Butter melted
For the Icing
- 2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 1 tbsp. Maple Syrup
- 1-2 tbsp. Whole Milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F. Butter and line a 9×13" baking pan with parchment paper.
To Make the Cake
- In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the softened butter and sugar. Beat for 2 minutes. Add the eggs and sour cream to beat 1-2 minutes. Stir in the buttermilk.
- Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Mix just until combined. Fold in the chopped apples and vanilla.
- Evenly spread out the batter in the prepared baking pan.
To Make the Crumb Topping
- In a separate bowl (or reusing the batter bowl), combine all ingredients. Mix until crumb-like texture. Add more melted butter or olive oil if the crumbs seem too dry.
- Spread the crumb mixture over top of the batter.
- Bake for 40-50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool for at least 30 minutes.
To Make the Icing
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl, whisking until smooth. Add more milk or maple syrup as needed until a smooth drizzle.
- Drizzle the maple icing over the cake, let sit for 5 minutes to help the icing set, then enjoy with Klarbrunn Berry Blend Sparkling Water for a complementary refreshment!
